Brief Job Descriptions for Some of the Positions Available During the 2010 Season
Before considering applying for a position with the Keys for seasonal employment please consider the following:
- Day, night and weekend availability April through September;
- Respect for the rules and policies established by Frederick Keys Baseball and Ovations Food Services;
- Ability to work well with others;
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment;
- Interactive and considerate of all fans visiting Harry Grove Stadium;
- Excited to work for the premier professional sports team in Frederick County!
GENERAL STADIUM POSITIONS
On-field Emcee
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Memorize and recall important information
- Execute pre-game, in-game, post-game promotions
- Manage promo crew
Qualifications
- Ability to work nights and weekends
- Physically fit
- Comfortable using a hand-held microphone
- Effective communicator
- Must be enthusiastic and energetic
- Prefer someone with experience performing in front of large audiences
Usher
- Customer Service background preferred and a love for the game of baseball.
- Job Description
- Reports 15-30 minutes prior to gates opening and required to stay through the end of the game
- Helps fans to their assigned seats and assures their comfort throughout the game
- Must possess a positive attitude and serve as a goodwill ambassador for the Frederick Keys
- Must be willing to enforce the policies of Frederick Keys baseball
- Other duties as assigned by the Usher Manager
Bat Boy
- No previous experience required.
- Must possess knowledge of baseball equipment and love of baseball.
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to Batting Practice (BP)
- Assists Trainer in preparation for BP and the game
- Shag all homerun balls during Keys and visiting team BP
- Attend to players and Umpires needs throughout the game
- Clean-up and return all supplies and equipment from dugout and bullpen after the completion of the game
- Must possess a positive attitude, demonstrate strong work ethic, dress professionally and represent the Frederick Keys in positive light
- Other duties as assigned by the Trainer , AGM-Operations, Clubhouse Operations Assistant, and Stadium Operations Assistant
- Labor laws require that applicants be at least 16 years of age by 4/4/2010
Guest Services
- Customer Service background preferred
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to gates opening and required to stay through the end of the game
- Assist/Interact with fans or initiate full-time staff assistance with any fan questions or inquiries
- Responsible for the light cleaning and maintenance of the Guest Services area
- Must possess a positive attitude and serve as a goodwill ambassador for the Frederick Keys
- Must be willing to enforce the policies of Frederick Keys baseball
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing
TICKETS
Ticket Seller
- Work game days in the ticket office
- Previous Experience
- Working on a computer
- Working with the public
- Handling cash
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to gates opening & required to stay through at least the 7th inning – varies game to game
- Responsible for selling tickets on game days
- Other duties may be assigned by the Box Office Manager
Ticket Taker
- Work game days at the front gate
- Previous Experience
- Working with the public
- Must be able to stay on your feet for extended periods of time
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to gates opening & required to stay through at least the 7th inning – varies game to game
- Responsible for scanning tickets as fans enter the front gates
- Responsible for greeting and creating the Keys first impression at the front gates
- Other duties may be assigned by the Box Office Manager
PRESSBOX
Message Center Operator
- Work in the press box
- Previous Experience
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to the gates opening & required to stay through the end of the game
- Keeping the fans informed by inputting and updating player statistics prior to and throughout the game
- Fully entertain the fans by following nightly game script that incorporates all in-game activities in a timely manner
- All other duties assigned by the Creative Production Manager and/or Marketing Assistant
Camera Operator
- Work in the press box and around the stadium.
- Previous Experience
- Camera/Directing experience preferred
- Knowledge of baseball preferred
- Job Description
- Reports 15 minutes prior to the gates opening and required to stay through the end of the game
- Responsible for capturing game footage, between inning entertainment and fan interaction for live action and stored video during games
- Fully entertain the fans by following nightly game script that incorporates all in-game activities in a timely manner
- All other duties assigned by the Creative Production Manager and/or Marketing Assistant
FUNZONE
Fun Zone Attendant
- Work in the Amusement Area
- No previous experience required
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to gates opening and required to stay through the end of the game
- Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of all amusement equipment
- Responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of each amusement area at the end of the shift
- Responsible for the tracking and recording of tickets for each amusement area at the end of the game
- All other duties as assigned by the FunZone Manager
Ticket Booth Attendant (FunZone)
- Work in the Amusement Area
- No previous experience required
- Job Description
- Reports 30 minutes prior to gates opening and required to stay through the end of the game
- Responsible for all monies and ticket inventory in the amusement area during shift
