Who is Harry Grove?

Harry Grove was an avid baseball fan and integral part of baseball history in Frederick in the early 1900's. His son, MJ Grove, donated the final funds to complete the stadium in 1990. At that time, he asked that the stadium be named for his father.

Where did the name "Keys" originate?

The Frederick Keys are named after Francis Scott Key, the author of the "Star Spangled Banner" which later, of course, became our country's National Anthem. Key was born in Frederick County and began his law career in Frederick City. Francis Scott Key is buried across the street from Harry Grove Stadium at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

How do I try out for the Frederick Keys?

Tryouts are not held by the Frederick Keys. Our teams are assigned by our major league affiliate, the Baltimore Orioles. The Major League Scouting Bureau conducts tryout camps around the country and can be reached at 909-980-1881 for tryout information.

How do I get autographs at Harry Grove Stadium?

Many of the Keys players are available for autographs prior to the game as well as when they exit the field following the game. The entrance to the home clubhouse is located at the end of the first base concourse and that is where you can find Keys players before and after a game. Players are not allowed to give autographs while a game is in progress. Guests are asked not climb onto or lean on the top of the dugouts or the railings that enclose the stadium.

Where do I send fan mail to Keys players?

Every effort will be made to answer fan mail sent to the Frederick Keys. If you wish to send mail to a player or coach, please address it to: "Name of player or coach" Frederick Keys, 21 Stadium Drive, Frederick, Maryland 21703. All fan mail is welcomed and encouraged but please be advised that there is some risk involved in mailing an item to be signed. To help ensure that an item is returned, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope. Though reasonable precautions will be taken, Frederick Keys players, management and staff are not responsible if an item is not returned.

How do I get tickets for a Keys game?

Tickets may be purchased by calling 301-662-0013 or 877-8GO-KEYS. Once the season begins our box office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on non-game days and from 9:00 a.m. to the end of the game when the Keys are playing at home.

How do I know if a game is rained out?

Keep checking our website for updates if the weather appears questionable. We will report any news on our home page first. You may also phone us at 301-662-0013 for information.

What happens to my ticket if the game is rained out?

A game becomes official after 4.5 innings when the home team has the lead. Otherwise, 5 full innings of play must be completed for a game to be official. If a game is stopped before becoming official or before starting, ticket stubs may be exchanged at the Frederick Keys box office for any 2008 home game for the same value ticket during the regular season, based on availability. There are no refunds. In the event the game is shortened, but official, or the second game of a doubleheader is rained out, there is no rain check or refund. The exchange of rain checks can be done in person at the box office or by mail.

Can I exchange my tickets?

No exchanges and no refunds are available for single game tickets.  Tickets are only good for the game date as shown on the ticket.  No exchanges will be available before or after the date shown with the following exceptions;

  • Unused tickets will be exchangeable for designated nights only.  For the 2007 season, the following dates have been designated:  June 17th, July 11th, August 2nd and September 3rd.
  • For the 2008 season, any unused tickets can be used for any Monday through Thursday, regular season home game.
  • Any 2008 season or mini-plan ticket may be exchanged for an equal value seat for any Sunday through Thursday game based on availability.  This will go for any future dated game as well as any unused tickets from a ticket plan.  Friday and Saturday exchanges are not available.

Can I upgrade my general admission ticket?

General admission ticket upgrades to reserved or field box seating are available any time in person at the Keys ticket office only, based on availability.  The difference in price will be charged.  The value of all fundraiser tickets will be equal to the lowest available price of a general admission ticket.

What time do gates open?

Gates open one hour prior to scheduled starting times for all 2008 Frederick Keys home games.

Is there free admission for kids?

Children 2 years old and younger are free but must have a ticket (available at the box office) to enter the stadium gates.  A youth wearing a Little League uniform will be admitted free to Monday through Thursday Keys home games when accompanied by a fan who has purchased a regularly priced adult or senior general admission ticket.  Little Leaguers must appear in their jersey and cap at the Keys box office to receive their free ticket.

Can I bring my own food and beverage?

No bottles, cans, food, beverages or containers may be brought in to Harry Grove Stadium. Ovations Food Services will make every effort to accommodate fans with dietary restrictions.

Courtesy cups are available at our Guest Services Booth.  Fans may use them to fill with water from our drinking fountains.  Fans may also get small courtesy cups of ice from concession stand attendants.

If I catch a foul ball, can I keep it?

Yes. Fans are welcome to keep any foul ball hit or thrown into the stands. Please stay alert at all times for any ball thrown may be potentially dangerous. At no time should a guest interfere with a ball in play or throw balls back onto the field. Any guest interference will also be subject to ejection from the ballpark. Anyone leaving the stadium to retrieve a ball will not be allowed back into the park without the proper ticket stub.

Where is the guest services booth?

The guest services booth is located on the main concourse facing the front gates to Harry Grove Stadium. Guests may obtain information, offer suggestions, voice concerns and request assistance from our guest services booth representative. Lost and found items are handled here as well.

Can I get a birthday announcement at Harry Grove Stadium?

To have a birthday announcement made, place your request at the guest services booth prior to the game. We will do our best to accommodate every request but due to time constraints it may not always be possible.

Where do I park?

Public parking is available at no charge in the main parking lot in front of the stadium as well as in the lower lot that faces New Design Road. Handicap accessible parking spaces are available in front of the stadium.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not allowed in the seating bowl of Harry Grove Stadium but is permitted in the uncovered area of the concourse. Smoking is not permitted in the Keys Café or the Skyboxes or in the balcony level seating area. Guests in the Café and skyboxes are permitted to smoke in the hallway that faces the front parking lot.

Are there spaces for wheelchairs?

Yes. Disabled guests may enter through the main gates. Handicapped seating is available in the designated areas on the main concourse.

Where is the Will Call Window?

Our will call window is located at our box office. Tickets left by the club, purchased via mail, Internet or by phone, that were not mailed prior to the game may be picked up at this window. Fans may come to the Will Call Window during regular box office hours.

Are animals permitted inside Harry Grove Stadium?

No. Dogs are allowed only on our special "Bark in the Park" night. Certified service dogs for the disabled are permitted. We also welcome "Service Dogs in Training" with advance notice.

Where can I find an ATM machine?

We have an ATM machine on the concourse just inside the main gates.

Is there a public telephone at Harry Grove Stadium?

Yes. We have a public pay phone located on the concourse, just inside the main gates.

Is there an elevator at Harry Grove Stadium?

Yes. Guests of the Keys Café and skyboxes may use the elevator located through a door off the concourse, next to the ATM machine, just inside the main gates.

What kind of food can I expect to find at Harry Grove Stadium?

Ovations Food Services provides the food at Harry Grove Stadium. Some of the food items offered are pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, grilled chicken, French fries, ice cream and nachos to name a few. Information on the various food selections offered in our Keys Café, picnic areas and skyboxes may be obtained by phoning our Group Events Department at 301-815-9900 or toll-free at 877-8GO-KEYS.

Do you have a First Aid Station?

Yes. We have EMTs available at a table on the third base concourse.

Do you accept credit cards at Harry Grove Stadium?

Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express at our box office, gift shop, Keys Café and skyboxes as well as at the Corner Grill located at the far end of the third base concourse.

How do I report fan misconduct?

At Harry Grove Stadium our goal is to provide a safe, comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for our guests. In turn, we expect our guests to: Refrain from using foul or abusive language or gestures; drink responsibly if they choose to consume alcoholic beverages; remain off the playing field; and observe all other inherent rules of conduct. Anyone who observes a guest violating such rules should report the incident to the nearest usher or security officer.

Are alcoholic beverages served throughout the game?

No. The sale of alcoholic beverages at Harry Grove Stadium ends after the first pitch of the 8th inning. Maryland law prohibits the sale of alcoholic beverages to persons under the age of 21. Therefore, patrons should expect to be asked to show proper identification and proof of age when purchasing alcoholic beverages at Harry Grove Stadium. Ovations Food Services and the Frederick Keys reserve the right to deny the sale of alcoholic beverages to any of our guests at Harry Grove Stadium.
