FREDERICK FIGHTS THROUGH FOR SERIES SPLIT
Keys Move Within 2.5 Games in North With Win
Keys starter Jake Renshaw didn't have it easy Sunday afternoon at Pfitzner Stadium. Whenever he looked up Potomac Nationals were on the basepaths but Renshaw fought through. He worked a tough five innings allowing two runs to get his team leading fourth win in a Keys 6-2 victory over the first place Nationals. Renshaw got out of a bases loaded jam with a double play groundout by CF Frank Diaz in the fifth inning and then pounced on Potomac in the sixth inning. With starter Ross Detwiler tiring, Keys 1B Brandon Snyder singled to start a two-run rally that would catapult Frederick ahead for good. Snyder was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a run driven in. Keys DH Matt Wieters also had a big day with his second three hit performance of the series. Wieters doubled off the wall in the first inning and followed that up with two singles. His seventh inning basehit drove home Keys CF Danny Figueroa to put Frederick atop 5-2. LHP Chad Thall entered in the sixth inning and worked a season-long four innings scoreless to pick up his first Carolina League save. Frederick returns home to take on the Kinston Indians Monday, May 5th at 7:00 p.m. for Kids Eat Free Monday presented by Giant Eagle.
