KEYS SWEEP DOUBLEHEADER TO KEEP PACE IN NORTH
Frederick Goes For Series Sweep Wednesday at 11 AM
All night long the Frederick Keys got the critical out, fending off a Wilmington rally and in the end they outlasted the Blue Rocks over two contests winning 6-1 and 3-2 to move to a season high six games over .500. In the nightcap the Keys broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning when CF Danny Figueroa's two-out RBI bunt single scored LF Bobby Andrews with the leading run. Andrews went 3-for-3 with two runs scored in the victory. Frederick preserved the win with 2 and 2/3 scoreless innings of relief from LHP Ryan Rodriguez. He entered with runners on the corners and one out in the fourth and got out of the jam. Following that Rodriguez allowed just one hit in earning his first win in the Orioles organization. The sweep was the second doubleheader sweep for Frederick of Wilmington in eight days. In the opener the Keys broke open a close game with a three-run fourth inning to grab a 5-1 lead. RF Brandon Tripp and 3B Billy Rowell each had two hits as the Keys took the opener. Eight of Frederick's nine batters registered a hit in the win. RHP Jake Renshaw ended a two-game losing streak and the Blue Rocks stranded ten base runners in defeat. The series concludes Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. The Keys will return home Monday, May 5th to take on the Kinston Indians at 7:00 p.m. It will be Kids Eat Free Monday presented by Giant Eagle.
