LET'S TAKE TWO!
Keys Sweep Double-Header
The Frederick Keys broke a three-game losing streak tonight by beating Wilmington 4-1, then followed that up by winning game two of the double-header, 2-1. In game one, Keys RHP Brandon Erbe pitched the first complete game of the season for Frederick. The second-year Key allowed just one earned run on three hits, walking one and striking out three. Frederick trailed game one 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Keys loaded the bases with one man out. After RF Brandon Tripp struck out swinging, SS Jason White worked a walk to drive in a run and tie the game. The score would stay tied until the bottom of the sixth inning. 1B Brandon Snyder led off the inning with a broken bat double. 3B Bill Rowell (just off the disabled list)picked up his first hit of the season, a single to center driving in Snyder, and giving the Keys the lead. Frederick tacked on two more runs in the inning to run away with game one. In game two, the Keys jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning. 2B Todd Davison worked a one-out walk. SS Chris Amador doubled in Davison. Amador reached third on a wild pitch, and DH Matt Wieters drove him in on a sac fly. The Blue Rocks scored a run in the third inning to pull to within one. In the end a couple base-running blunders ended up coming back to haunt Wilmington. With two men out in the game, and Blue Rock 3B Wilver Perez on first, CF Derrick Robinson drove a ball down the right field line. Perez tried to score, but was gunned down at the plate. With the two wins, the Keys gain a half game on the Potomac Nationals in the Northern Division. Frederick is now 2.5 games out of first place. The Keys and Blue Rocks wrap up their three-game set tomorrow evening at Harry Grove Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00.
